In 2022, eight individuals came together with a shared vision and a deep sense of purpose. Among them were six veterans who served their country together in the same unit with honor and sacrifice, alongside two family members who understood the toll military service can take on a person’s well-being. Together, they laid the foundation for what became a beacon of hope for struggling warriors: Resurrection Ranch.

 

The driving force behind the organization was recognition of a pressing need. Too many veterans return home only to find themselves battling unseen enemies - PTSD, CTE, and various disabilities. The scourge of homelessness among veterans compounded these challenges, pushing some to the brink of despair with thoughts of suicide. It is clear, these brave veterans need more than just medical treatment. They need a supportive community, renewed motivation, sense of purpose, and a positive direction in life.

 

Michael Hawes, with a compassionate soul, and a firm belief in the power of unity and support, played a pivotal role in bringing Resurrection Ranch to life. Michael purchased a ranch with the vision to create a haven for veterans to come together, reconnect as brothers in arms, and rebuild their lives. The ranch transformed from a physical space into a symbol of hope, resilience, and transformation.

 

Resurrection Ranch was designed to offer a comprehensive approach to healing and empowerment. It is not merely about addressing symptoms but addressing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. The organization developed a structured program consisting of three phases: self-discovery, mental, and physical.

 

In the self-discovery phase, participants were encouraged to explore their inner selves, reconnect with their values and find a grounded foundation—a crucial step in rebuilding a sense of identity and purpose. The mental phase focused on providing tools and support for managing trauma, coping with stress, and fostering positive mental health practices. Finally, the physical phase emphasized the importance of holistic well-being through fitness, nutrition, and outdoor activities, promoting not just physical health but camaraderie and teamwork as well.

 

Over the years, Resurrection Ranch grew into a thriving community of veterans, families, and supporters united by a common goal. Empowered to uplift and empower those who have sacrificed for their country. Through leadership initiatives, wellness programs, and a strong network of resources, the organization continues to make a lasting impact. Helping veterans discover renewed purpose, motivation, and direction in their post-service lives.
